New Blog

So I thought it was time for a change, actually I just found out that several of my favorite professors have blogs on blogger, so I started one on there as well so I could keep up with them.  There are features of both Xanga and Blogger that I like and wish the other had, but I felt like I needed a change. With that said here is my new blog address:

Tell me what you think.

We miss you Doc!!

In case you haven't, read the link that I posted last time.  My friend, mentor, and teacher Dr. Stanley Wilkins died Wednesday from complications after he fell and hit his head and then went into a coma.  From there he was lifelighted to Atlanta Medical Center, where because of hemmoraging on the brain he was held in ICU and kept in a drug-induced coma.  I thought that they had the hemmoraging cleared up, but he passed away wednesday.
It is times like these that really make me struggle as far as calvinism or reformed theology as I like to refer to it. The reason is because I am frustrated, because I understand that God does every thing for His own glory, but I don't understand how taking dr. wilkins now brings him more glory than healing dr. wilkins would have.  I hate feeling like this because it is totally a selfish perspective, and I hate being selfish.  More than anything though I just miss Doc. He was by far my favorite professor I have had here.  There are many that run a close second, but he tops them all.  It amazes me how close my evangelism class and he got these past five months.  I really don't think that it has truly hit me yet, as far as the fact that he is really and truly gone.  I don't know when it will, but I am sure that it will some time soon.  I am going to visitation tomorrow and the funeral saturday.

Ok, so nothing as profound as the last two entries.  However, I figured that someone may want to know how I am doing.  Overall, I am doing ok.  I had two tests today: Physical Science, and Greek. I think I did ok on the Physical Science, but the Greek I learned the wrong chart for the test.  So that took a big chunk out of my grade.  However, no matter what the grade because of that I am still learning a lot in that class, and had a great grasp on the rest of the material that we had learned.  Other than that, everything seems to be going good. I am still trying to find a job in Rome so if anyone knows someone who is hiring, please let me know. Thanks.  I am really excited about the opportunities for ministry that are appearing all over Rome with YFC and The Church @ Shorter, and various other places. I can really see a revival on the horizon for Shorter, and I am excited to be a part of it.  I hope every one is doing great.

My thoughts on a Jim Elliot Quote

Those whimpering Stateside young people will wake up on the Day of Judgment condemned to worse fates than these demon-fearing Indians, because, having a Bible, they were bored with it - while these never heard of such a thing as writing.
Jim Elliot

Oh how true these words of Jim Elliot are.  So many times we take for granted that we have the scriptures in our own language and for that matter that we have numerous translations.  In the book on my last post those people, the Balangous people of the Phillipines waited 20 years for their first copy of only the New Testament. But for me there were probably 20 different translations when I was born.
So don't ever let us become bored with the Word of God. I mean how can we do as they did in Acts 17 and turn the world upside down if we do.
